Why the Ancient Romans Fought
Throughout the time of Ancient Rome there were many battles and wars. These were mainly fought due to the fact that the Romans wanted to expand their empire and gain land.

Punic Wars
The Punic wars were fought against the people of Carthage. This war started on in 264 BC and ended in 146BC. The Romans fought the people of Carthage to claim the land of Sicily. Throughout this time period the Romans fought three wars with the people of Carthage, and in the end the Romans were victorious over the people of Carthage.
Alexander the Great, and the Persian war
Alexander the great was the general of the Roman army at the time of the Persian wars. Alexander the Great had never been defeated in a battle before his death. Alexander the great fought with the Roman army during the Persian wars in 334 BC.
At the end of the battle the Persians fled and Alexander and his army won.
